About L J Frare
Thanks for visiting my website and checking out my artwork. Let me know what you think. I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say. You can reach me at (206) 486-4043.
I'm an artist, photographer and poet. I attended the Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland, New Zealand where I received my MFA degree. I am now located in Seattle, Washington.
My passion is to create stunning works of art that are captivating, interesting, exciting and imaginative. In addition to my landscapes and photographic art, I take abstract expressionism to the next level of innovation and imagination. I believe that all of my works bring a high level of sophistication, character, and beauty to a room. Viewing them becomes a special experience for both the collector and the viewer..
Instead of pricing each individual work of art, I give art collectors the opportunity to make an offer on any artwork they desire. I usually have a recognized art appraiser discuss the price and shipping of the work with the buyer. Two heads are better than one. You can get in touch with me by calling the Frare Fine Art Studio in Seattle at (206) 486-4043. I look forward to chatting with you. My email address is FrareFineArt@yahoo.com.
On my canvases, I use various styles of composition reminiscent of my favorite artists. For example, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko come to mind. I create some of my artwork with the canvas lying flat on a 6 by 6 foot table. This allows me to paint from a fresh perspective on all four sides blending them together into one coherent and continuous piece.
Sometimes I position my brushes and painting utensils just above the canvas as it lies flat on the table. Dipping my brushes and utensils into various cans of paint, myriad colors flow down in stunning configurations as I maneuver around the canvas sometimes in a trance-like state.
These works of art feature intricate, multi-colored fine lines over rich, thick layers of acrylic or oil paint incorporating a dimensional effect to the work. All of my artworks have a clear coat of archival varnish, so they will last for centuries.
Painted on canvases up to five feet in length, my evocative artworks are bright, colorful and imbued with passion. One or more of my original works would make an excellent addition to your fine art collection. A Certificate of Authenticity is always signed, sealed and delivered by yours truly.
I use an abundance of colors and textures, as I engage in rhythmical, dance-like movements around the canvas while listening to Amadeus. Visions of strange new worlds, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and Lewis Carroll's fantasies come to mind.
In fact, Carroll's "Alice In Wonderland" was the inspiration for a couple of poems that I wrote. Imagine a famous recording artist like Jimi Hendrix moving on to an entirely different dimension known as the Magical Land of Wonder after his untimely demise in September of 1970. Furthermore, envision him with his guitar strapped to his back and his head turned 180 degrees, picking the strings with his teeth. Jimi was particularly adept at that.
Jimi and I became friends when he appeared to me in his spirit body, as I was playing some of his music and thinking about what a wonderful career he had in spite of much adversity. What a shame it was that he had passed at such a young age with so much brilliant music never to see the light of day. At least in this physical reality.
After his life on earth was cut short, Jimi journeyed to the Magical Land of Wonder otherwise known as Rock 'n Roll Heaven where he was having a blast playing in concerts with the other R & R and R & B greats of all time. He wanted to see Alice, his foxy lady, whom he had previously met there, but she was nowhere to be found. He discovered that there might be a way for a couple of magical forest fairies that he knew to help his darling Alice return to the Land of Wonder from the United Kingdom where she was currently residing.
The fairies would guide Alice to Jimi in her dream state to a parallel but different universe where the Magical Land was located. They would teach Alice how to get there by herself in the future. They suggested that certain magical shrooms would make the trip a lot easier.
Jimi then visited me in spirit form glowing in a multitude of psychedelic colors. He came in through the bathroom window just a dancing and a prancing whilst entrancing into my candle lit abode. With Alice on his mind, he was thinking about chancing a romance thing as a trance king on his favorite shamanistic Big Gyms.
He requested a few poetic lines that he could sing to Alice upon her homecoming as queen of the Land of Wonder. So I wrote the poem "Alice Returns To The Magical Land Of Wonder" for him.
His friend Mick Jagger had once sang about him, "I was standing in line with Mr. Jimi. And man did he look pretty ill." Now Jimi appeared to be in the prime of his life. Tall, dark, sexy and handsome. He got out his guitar and started singing:
"All the young girls love Alice.
Tender young Alice, they say.
I know that you miss me.
Come over and kiss me.
Alice, I'll love you today."
In addition to being an artist, I've been a psychic medium most of my life communicating with spirits on the other side. I have had a number of visitations from my "soul brother" Jimi over the years. He's having a great time performing in concerts in the Magical Land along with many of the other greatest recording artists of all time!
